Tether, the issuer of the USDT stablecoin, has purchased an additional 8,888 Bitcoin in the first quarter of 2025, valued at approximately $735 million. This acquisition increases Tether's total Bitcoin holdings to 100,521 BTC, now worth about $8.29 billion, with an unrealized profit of $3.86 billion. The purchase was made from Bitfinex and aligns with Tether's ongoing strategy to allocate 15% of its quarterly profits to Bitcoin, a policy announced in May 2023. This move has positioned Tether as the sixth-largest Bitcoin holder in a single wallet globally, with its holdings reaching 92,647 BTC valued at $7.64 billion before the latest purchase, now totaling $7.8 billion.
